Why Science Communication Matters: Meet Conny Schneider

Great ideas alone do not change the world. They need to be communicated, shared and developed through collaboration.

This philosophy lies at the heart of Conny Schneider's work. With a background in biotechnology and tissue engineering, she understands the challenges researchers face in developing new discoveries. Today, however, her mission extends far beyond the laboratory.

As Coordinator of the NanoPrecMed Consortium and Science Communication Lead at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traumatology (LBI Trauma), Conny helps researchers communicate their work, build meaningful collaborations and maximise the societal impact of scientific research.

Science communication is much more than explaining complex concepts in simple terms. It is about connecting researchers with industry, healthcare professionals, policymakers and the wider public. It creates opportunities for collaboration, accelerates technology transfer and helps innovative ideas find their way from the laboratory into real-life applications. This vision strongly resonates with the mission of InnovPrecMed. Through education in innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer, our project encourages researchers to think beyond scientific publications and consider how their discoveries can address real societal needs. By combining scientific excellence with entrepreneurial thinking, we aim to empower the next generation of innovators in Deep Tech Precision Medicine.

An important part of this journey is collaboration. Together with the NanoPrecMed Consortium, InnovPrecMed is helping to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Austria and the Czech Republic, bringing together researchers, clinicians, innovation professionals and industry partners.
