From Nanorobots to Student Startups: InnovPrecMed Podcast Series Recorded at Mendel University
How can nanorobots transform the treatment of diseases? What does the future of precision medicine look like? And how can scientific discoveries become successful innovations and businesses? These are just some of the questions explored in a new podcast series produced as part of the InnovPrecMed project.
Mendel University in Brno hosted the recording of a new podcast series dedicated to precision medicine, scientific innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship. The series brings together researchers, university representatives, and students to share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on some of the most exciting developments in science and innovation.
Exploring the Future of Precision Medicine
Several episodes focus on emerging technologies and innovative therapeutic approaches. Andrew Miller from Mendel University, who leads the InnovPrecMed project, discusses novel approaches to cancer treatment and the potential of therapeutic nucleic acids in precision medicine. Michaela Vojníková explores the fascinating world of nanorobots and their potential applications in disease treatment, while Professor Karel Šmejkal from Masaryk University shares insights into the development of new antibiotics and antivirals and their importance for human health.
From Scientific Discoveries to Successful Innovations
Beyond scientific research, the podcast series also explores how innovative ideas can move from laboratories into real-world applications. Jan Přenosil, Head of the Technology Transfer Office at MENDELU, discuss the importance of technology transfer, intellectual property protection, and the commercialisation of research results.
Another key topic is the evolving role of universities in the 21st century. While Andrew Miller shares the academic perspective, MENDELU students offer their views on what modern universities should provide to support education, research, and innovation.
The series also highlights student entrepreneurship, with Vojtěch Hlavačka discussing startup creation and the challenges of turning an innovative idea into a business.
Bringing Science and Innovation Closer to Society
The podcast series forms part of the dissemination activities of InnovPrecMed. Through training programmes, mentoring, internships, and support for entrepreneurship, InnovPrecMed aims to strengthen innovation capacity and help transform scientific knowledge into practical solutions. The podcasts complement these activities by making complex scientific topics more accessible and highlighting the people and ideas behind innovation.
The podcast episodes will be published gradually on the InnovPrecMed website following post-production. Stay tuned!
